Columnar Joint

This location is an outcrop of the columnar joint and is in contact with the volcanic breccias of the Jampang Formation which was formed around 23- 16 million years ago (Lower Miocene). This outcrop is located right under the Japanese Bunker historical site. This area was once a sand and stone quarry which had caused the exposure of these rocks. The excavation, however, was no longer allowed and it is turned into tourist destination and educational area. This location is very easy to access because it is on the main route of the provincial road from Palabuhanratu to Ujunggenteng.
