Information of

Tanjung and Sodong Parat Cave

This rocky complex forms a small peninsula or promontory. These rocks outcrops of fine peridotite, gabbro, and plagiogranit amphibolit (anorthosite). These rock groups represent the constituents of the oceanic crust (upper mantle) that are uplifted due to subduction. At the tip of the cape there is a sea cave which is formed by erosion and abrasion of sea water. This place is often used by local people to fish for reef fish or lobsters, because the rock morphology on the surface and subsurface resembles blackish coral rock, and the waves are strong enough to accelerate the process of erosion or abrasion the rock complex.
